“What major risks currently exist within your organization, and what preventive measures have been put in place?” On May 23–24, the Safety Production Department of Shenma Co., Ltd., together with the Supervision Office, formed an inspection team and conducted a special safety‑production oversight inspection across all units in the nylon business segment, employing the “four noes and two straights” approach.
At 7:29 p.m. on May 22, a gas explosion occurred underground at the Liushenyu Coal Industry Co., Ltd., part of Shanxi Tongzhou Group, in Qinyuan County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, resulting in significant casualties. At approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 23, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province, held a press conference. As of the time of the briefing, the accident had claimed 82 lives, left 2 people missing, and injured 128 others.
Following the gas explosion at the Liuzhenyu Coal Mine in Shanxi on May 22, the head of Shenma Co., Ltd. instructed all units to thoroughly learn from the accident, firmly enforce their primary responsibility for workplace safety, and promptly launch a special campaign to comprehensively identify and rectify safety risks and hazards. Additionally, the Safety Production Department was directed to conduct supervisory inspections of each unit’s operational conditions and safety management practices.
The inspection team visited each unit, focusing on verifying three key areas. First, the identification and remediation of potential hazards: the team confirmed each unit’s assessment of major and dynamic risks, as well as the preventive measures in place, ensuring that self-inspection and self-correction efforts are substantive rather than merely formalistic. Second, the on‑duty and shift‑supervision arrangements for leading cadres: all units were required to have their principal officials coordinate and effectively manage on‑duty and shift‑supervision duties. Ensure the on-duty cadres Diligently implement the on-duty and shift‑supervision system as well as the nighttime dispatch meeting protocol; maintain a thorough understanding of production conditions; and, in the event of emergencies, promptly analyze and assess issues and swiftly resolve them. Third, ensure the effective implementation of summer “three‑prevention” measures by conducting comprehensive inspections of flood‑control material reserves, the operation and maintenance of drainage facilities, and emergency response preparedness, thereby strengthening safety safeguards during the flood season.
In response to the issues identified, the inspection team provided on-site feedback, established a problem checklist and a rectification ledger, specified responsible persons, remedial measures, and completion deadlines, and urged all units to implement immediate corrective actions and ensure closed-loop follow-up.
Going forward, Shenma Shares will continue to strengthen its standardized safety production management system, systematically advance the identification and remediation of risks and hazards, institutionalize the closed-loop management mechanism of “identification–rectification–assessment–improvement,” and rigorously and meticulously implement all safety control measures, thereby ensuring a safe and stable production environment in preparation for National Safety Production Month.
