To deepen awareness of job responsibilities and foster a culture of diligence and frugality, the Sixth Chemical Plant of Nylon Chemical Company recently organized all its cadres and employees to visit the company’s thermal power plant in staged groups, conducting an on-site study tour themed “The Generation of Utility Services.” From the very source of fuel to the far end of steam production, guided by plant personnel, participants walked, observed, and reflected, experiencing firsthand the immense significance behind every stream of steam amid sweltering heat and the rumble of operating equipment, thereby undergoing a profound spiritual awakening.
At the very first stop of their training, everyone was confronted with the “burning heart” of thermoelectric production—the boiler’s bottom. Looking up, the coal‑feeding chute, glowing red-hot, radiated heat exceeding a thousand degrees, and waves of scorching air rushed toward them, forcing them to step back repeatedly. Yet the thermoelectric workers must carry out daily inspections and operations here, their backs drenched in sweat. Ascending to the top of the furnace, they observed the ultra-clean emission‑control system operating with remarkable efficiency, underscoring the company’s respect for and commitment to environmental red lines. Meanwhile, in the vast coal bunker and coal yard, they saw firsthand the first critical step in the transformation of “black gold” into “white power,” and personally experienced the daily realities of the coal‑handling workforce: hardship, grime, and exhaustion.
During the tour, many employees’ expressions shifted from initial curiosity to a sense of solemnity. In contrast to the searing heat at the cogeneration furnace and the dust‑filled din of the coal yard, they couldn’t help but reflect on their own environment—the central control room and the plant floor of Chemical Plant No. 6. The relatively clean surroundings and the highly automated operations are achievements that have come only through hard work and dedication. “So the steam we simply turn on by opening a valve every day goes through so many processing steps and requires the sweat of countless people,” remarked a young employee. “I stood beneath the furnace for just five minutes, and my clothes were drenched—hard to imagine the boiler operators enduring such conditions year after year; their perseverance is truly admirable.” Learning that the cogeneration team maintains rigorous control over chimney emission standards deepened everyone’s understanding of how environmental protection is vital to the company’s very survival and growth.
This visit was not merely a refresher on technical knowledge; it was also a deeply inspiring benchmarking exercise. As the company’s largest steam consumer, Chemical Plant No. 6 relies on a steam‑distribution network that functions like a major artery, continuously delivering high‑pressure steam generated by the cogeneration plant to every one of our production units. Each ton of steam embodies the precise control exercised by operators in fuel handling, boiler operation, and turbine management, as well as the meticulous maintenance performed by the environmental protection team—truly the collective achievement of hundreds and thousands of employees working in concert.
Back at their posts, everyone pledged to cherish the relatively favorable working conditions they currently enjoy and to value every cubic meter of steam, every kilowatt-hour of electricity, and every ton of circulating water—each a precious utility resource. In daily operations, they will firmly uphold the principle that “conservation equals efficiency,” meticulously optimize process parameters, and eliminate all forms of waste, such as direct steam venting and leaks. When fluctuations occur in the pipeline network, they will exercise a strong sense of responsibility to make precise adjustments and ensure smooth transitions, thereby preventing unnecessary energy losses caused by improper handling.
