National Cybersecurity Publicity Week is centered on studying and promoting General Secretary Xi Jinping’s strategic thinking on building a cyber power, as well as relevant laws, regulations, and policy standards on national cybersecurity. Its aim is to cultivate “four‑good netizens”—individuals with a strong sense of security, sound digital literacy, law‑abiding conduct, and essential cybersecurity skills—and it is held annually during the third week of September.
From September 14 to 20, 2026, the National Cybersecurity Publicity Week will be held nationwide, with the theme “Cybersecurity for the People, Cybersecurity by the People—Safeguarding the Digital Era in the Age of Intelligence.” Let us learn about cybersecurity together and strengthen our defenses.
What is cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity refers to the capability of safeguarding networks against attacks, intrusions, disruptions, sabotage, and unauthorized use, as well as against accidental incidents, thereby ensuring their stable and reliable operation and protecting the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of network data. In essence, cybersecurity is about ensuring that one’s information and assets remain protected from unlawful infringement within the virtual realm of the internet.
Why is cybersecurity important?
In today’s era, cybersecurity has far-reaching implications across numerous sectors of a nation, making it an integral component of national security. Without cybersecurity, there can be no national security, no stable operation of the economy and society, and the interests of the general public will remain difficult to safeguard. Globally, cybersecurity threats and risks are becoming increasingly acute, spreading and infiltrating into political, economic, cultural, social, ecological, and defense domains. Cybersecurity has thus emerged as one of the most complex, pressing, and formidable non‑traditional security challenges facing China.
National Cybersecurity Publicity Week is an important opportunity for all staff members to actively engage in cybersecurity education. As network technologies and artificial intelligence become deeply integrated into every aspect of campus life and learning, the Internet of Everything brings us convenience—yet cyber risks loom just as closely. Let us work together to build a robust cybersecurity “firewall” and safeguard a clean, secure digital environment.
