“On-site! On-site! The toxic gas detector in the intermediate tank area has triggered an alarm—please head over immediately to investigate!” At around 3 p.m. on October 3rd, an urgent phone ring shattered the peaceful holiday atmosphere inside the patrol inspection room of the rearrangement unit in the caprolactam workshop at Nylon Technology Company, officially kicking off a “script-free” emergency drill simulating a benzene leak and subsequent fire.

Unlike previous exercises, this drill was designed to test the effectiveness of the emergency response plan and the immediate reaction capabilities of personnel. The exercise was conducted without prior notice regarding specific timing or details, fully simulating a real-life emergency scenario. The simulated crisis was set as follows: a leak occurred at the flexible connection point near the benzene tank outlet in the intermediate tank area, posing an imminent fire hazard. Upon detecting the alarm signal, the control room operators instantly activated the emergency response procedures. Immediately after receiving the command, on-site operators swiftly donned their protective gear and rushed to the scene, accurately identifying the source of the leak. Faced with this simulated emergency, several team members remained calm under pressure, working collaboratively and supporting one another—some took charge of securing the perimeter and evacuating personnel, while others quickly initiated process isolation and sealed off the leak point. Meanwhile, others prepared firefighting equipment, standing ready for immediate action. Throughout the entire response process, commands were clear, actions were decisive, and coordination was highly efficient, clearly demonstrating the staff’s exceptional emergency readiness and the solid outcomes of their rigorous daily training.
After the drill concluded, all participants seized the momentum to engage in an in-depth discussion, focusing on details such as response timeliness, the proper wearing of personal protective equipment, and the seamless coordination of on-site handling procedures. They also offered several valuable suggestions aimed at optimizing the on-site response plan.
Participants unanimously expressed that this "raid-style" live-action training was far more challenging and enlightening than the routine, procedural drills. It wasn’t just a "stress test" of emergency response capabilities—it also deeply embedded the philosophy of "safety first, prevention foremost" into the hearts of every employee, providing an additional robust layer of "insurance" to ensure the stable and secure operation of the facility during both holidays and daily activities.
