Recently, reporters at the No. 5 Chemical Plant of the Nylon Chemical Company observed that the advanced wastewater treatment and renovation project equipment—already tested for performance indicators and put into operation—is running smoothly. Currently, the project achieves a wastewater recovery rate of 75%.
In recent years, the company has continuously refined its science and technology innovation management system. Every year at the end of the year, it launches a company-wide call for proposals on technological problem-solving and management innovation projects, encouraging all branches to plan ahead. For projects that successfully pass evaluation and discussion, the company formulates reward programs, and once these projects are completed the following year, the participating team members are recognized and celebrated—ensuring that innovators and hands-on professionals not only reap tangible benefits but also gain well-deserved recognition.
In the first half of this year, the company's Chemical Plant No. 5 proposed and implemented a technical renovation project aimed at deep treatment of reclaimed water. The project adopts the industry-leading "ultrafiltration + reverse osmosis" dual-membrane process, efficiently purifying and reusing various types of wastewater—such as process wastewater and cooling water—that previously had low recycling rates and high reuse costs. The purified water can now be directly supplied for circulating water systems within the plant and even to production units, while the concentrated brine generated from reverse osmosis is discharged into the municipal sewage treatment plant.
"The project is estimated to save 3.06 million tons of fresh water and 1.3 million tons of municipal reclaimed water annually, resulting in annual cost savings of 4.131 million yuan," said Wang Hongtao, the plant director.
In addition to the reclaimed water deep-treatment technology upgrade project, the company’s Plastics Plant No. 2 recently completed and put into operation the LNG (liquefied natural gas) replacement project for natural gas.
It is understood that the plant has a total of five heating furnaces used to heat thermal oil—three of which are in daily operation, while two serve as backups. On average, the plant consumes more than 20,000 cubic meters of natural gas each day. Previously, the natural gas required for these heating furnaces had to be sourced externally, resulting in high raw material costs. To reduce expenses and improve efficiency, the plant proposed adopting LNG from Jingbao Chemical Company as a direct replacement for natural gas. After careful evaluation and discussion by the company, this plan was approved. The company has set a clear target of achieving annual gas cost savings of 4 million yuan compared to 2024 levels, along with a tiered incentive structure: a bonus of 20,000 yuan will be awarded for every 4 million yuan saved, with an additional 10,000 yuan bonus for every subsequent 1 million yuan saved beyond that. Once the project is operational, the cost of slicing products is expected to drop further, potentially leading to annual cost reductions of approximately 6 million yuan.
So far this year, the company has established a total of 25 management innovation projects and 31 science-and-technology tackling projects, with 80% already completed.
